Houston County Traffic Court Records
A traffic citation usually stays with the court named on the ticket. Crockett Municipal Court handles limited-jurisdiction misdemeanors, including traffic and city ordinance matters. Grapeland appears in the current Texas Office of Court Administration directory. It also runs a named payment portal. Kennard's court page describes a city court. That court interprets and adjudicates state laws and city ordinances.
Houston County justice courts may hold lower-court traffic matters. Other Class C matters also fall within their jurisdiction. Latexo and Lovelady post no official municipal portal or contact. In those towns, read the court printed on the citation and call it directly. Do not presume the county LGS clerk index contains a municipal ticket.
| Route | Use It For | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Issuing court | Case status, appearance, plea, trial, copies | Must identify the right court |
| TrafficPayment | Submitting named payment details | Not a full docket search |
| County LGS | Selected county clerk indexes and images | Not presumed to hold city tickets |
| Texas DPS | FTA/FTP and driver-record questions | Not the local court file |
Houston County Traffic Citations Name Court
Think of the ticket as the routing document. Copy the court name exactly as printed. Also copy the citation number, alleged offense, appearance date, and contact information. A city police citation may route to a municipal court. A different citation can route to a justice court. The road or agency alone does not decide it, so there is no shortcut rule.
Is the ticket missing? Call the likely issuing agency or court. Provide whatever identifying details it asks for. Ask whether the ticket has been filed and which number the court uses. Hold off on any city portal payment until its court name matches the citation.
First check: Match the court name before searching, paying, requesting a setting, or ordering a traffic record.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Lookup channels for a Houston County traffic ticket differ by court. Grapeland offers a payment form. Crockett publishes court guidance plus a payment-plan document, while Kennard posts procedure, calendar, and written-record routes with no online citation search. The justice-court page supplies local office information and forms.
- Read the issuing court and appearance date on the citation.
- Use that court's official page or named portal, if one exists.
- Enter only the fields that the official form requests.
- If no full lookup exists, call, write, or visit the court clerk.
- Confirm status, date, response method, and current amount with the court.
A name-only county search does not cover every local ticket. When a portal shows nothing, the clerk route is the fallback that works. Keep the citation and any payment or submission receipt.
Houston County Ticket and License Fields
The Grapeland TrafficPayment form asks for first and last name, driver license number, license state, ticket number, and payment amount. It also requires a one-time passcode by mobile text or email. A six-digit verification step and Add or Verify controls follow.
| First and last name | Required identity fields on the form. |
|---|---|
| Driver license | Number plus license-state selection. |
| Ticket number | The citation identifier, such as ticket number shown on citation. |
| Payment amount | User-entered amount that should be confirmed with the court. |
| OTP | Six-digit verification sent by text or email. |
Those controls make it a payment workflow. It is not a searchable case history, document repository, or disposition record. The portal warns about its processing fee. The fee is not returned if a payment is rejected or refunded. Grapeland phone numbers differ by official source. The OCA row lists (936) 687-3277. The portal notice lists (936) 687-2115. Verify the current number before you call.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
Start with the appearance date printed on the ticket. Confirm it with the issuing court, since later settings, resets, or continuances can shift the working schedule. A setting is just a scheduled event. It is not necessarily a trial, and its presence shows no final outcome.
| Citation number | Connects the inquiry to the correct ticket. |
|---|---|
| Court | Identifies the municipal or justice court holding it. |
| Date and time | May be an appearance or later setting. |
| Event | Can identify plea, hearing, or trial activity when published. |
| Status | Must be read with later entries and confirmed by the clerk. |
Kennard publishes a court calendar and dress-code page with operating and courtroom information, not a ticket-search database. Its procedures page describes the court docket as the court schedule. That wording is a useful reminder that a calendar entry and a complete case file are two different things.
Houston County Traffic Safety-Course Timing
The official Crockett traffic citation page sets a firm rule for driving-safety-course requests. The request must be made on or before the appearance date, or the right can be lost. That statement does not promise every person or citation is eligible.
Call the court before the printed date. Ask about current qualifications, documents, pleas, costs, and deadlines. Deferred disposition is a separate possible request. It is not a synonym for a safety course or automatic dismissal. Only the court can supply the terms that apply to the actual case.
Note: A portal payment is not a driving-safety-course request.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Paying a ticket resolves it with the court. Contesting generally means a not-guilty plea and a setting through the issuing court. A payment plan changes how an amount is paid, not guilt itself. Requests for trial, deferred disposition, or a safety course belong at the court. Make them before the citation deadline.
| Paying | Contesting |
|---|---|
| Confirm the court and current amount. | Contact the issuing court for plea and trial procedure. |
| Use a court-approved online, phone, mail, or counter route. | Meet the appearance or response deadline printed by the court. |
| Keep a receipt and verify posting. | Keep the filed request and notice of the new setting. |
| Does not provide the whole docket. | Does not promise dismissal or eligibility for alternatives. |
Crockett's official payment-plan PDF sets a $75 first payment, payments every two weeks, and a $25 plan fee per violation after 30 days. It allows no personal checks and excludes warrants and capias pro fine. Online users are pointed to TrafficPayment at 1-800-444-1187. Verify every term before acting.
Houston County Traffic FTA Clearance
The Texas DPS Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay program directs people to contact the reporting court to confirm fines, costs, and fees. The court can also say whether an appearance is required, whether you can request a trial, or how to set up payment. DPS license specialists cannot provide warrant information. Warrant questions go to the issuing city or county.
Missed date or payment: Contact the reporting court promptly. Do not assume each FTA has the same license result or that payment alone resolves every court requirement.
Transportation Code Chapter 706 sets out the current renewal-denial and clearance rules, including a $10 reimbursement fee for each reported complaint or citation, subject to statutory exceptions. What actually happens to you depends on the statute, your age, the offense, the court report, and clearance status. One statute covers many situations.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
A traffic court record and a Texas driver record are two different things. The court record tracks what happened in the cited case. The driver record carries state-maintained driving information instead. DPS FTA/FTP status adds one more layer. It is tied to a reported violation and its clearance.
| Item | Custodian | Question Answered |
|---|---|---|
| Municipal or JP docket | Issuing court | What event, plea, or status is attached? |
| TrafficPayment invoice | Named payment portal | What identifiers and amount can be submitted? |
| DPS FTA/FTP status | DPS and reporting court process | Has a reported violation cleared? |
| Driver record | Texas DPS | What appears on the driving record? |
A clean portal search does not prove a clean driver record. An FTA label is not a judgment or any final outcome either, so confirm each question with the office that controls that record.
Copies and Fees
Houston County posts no county-wide traffic fee table. Totals at the municipal and justice courts hinge on the offense, any court action, local programs, and statutory costs. Ask the issuing court for the current amount. Ask also about its fees for plain or certified copies of a traffic case.
Grapeland warns that a processing fee is not returned after a rejected or refunded payment. Crockett publishes its plan terms elsewhere on the docket page. Kennard, Latexo, and Lovelady publish no official traffic payment or copy fees. Confirm directly with each court. Do not borrow a figure from another one.
When you request a record, give the citation number, the document you need, and the date range. Include your format choice and whether you need certification. Keep your receipt. A paid ticket screen is not a clerk-certified court record.
Houston County Ticket Terms
Short labels can describe very different stages of a Houston County traffic case. Read each one against the issuing court's docket entries and notices.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, which can change.
- Disposition
- The outcome entered by the court.
- Deferred disposition
- A court-ordered path with case-specific terms, not automatic dismissal.
- FTA/FTP
- A failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay report within the Texas process.
- Capias pro fine
- A post-judgment enforcement process; Crockett excludes it from the cited payment plan.
Call the court when a status is unclear. The clerk can tell a pending court date from a payment issue, a final outcome, or a reported clearance.
Houston County Traffic Court Contact
Crockett Municipal Court sits at 200 North Fifth Street, Crockett, Texas. Its official page lists court clerk Lajuana Hartt at (936) 544-5156 extension 211, with Presiding Judge John Lawrence. Take Crockett citations and court-specific instructions there.
For a justice-court citation, use the county's official justice page instead. Grapeland lists two phone numbers, so reconcile them with the court. For Latexo and Lovelady, follow the issuing-court information printed on the citation, since neither town runs an official local portal.
Houston County Traffic Clearance Page
The official Texas DPS FTA/FTP page shows the state clearance route that works alongside the reporting court.
The state page sends you back to the court for case amounts, appearance requirements, trial requests, and payment arrangements. That is why it cannot replace the local docket.
